G day Togreenfeet,
Born and raised in Hog Alley myself.
Grew up along the Indian River near Pineda, moved away over 30 years ago.
Would return in a heartbeat if not for current obligations.

I’m actually from a small town north of Orlando. But I’ve called this home for 26 years. Nice to meet you!

Re: G day mates!
I thought we had a problem until I saw you had a Melbourne in Florida.
In the Australian context:
It's miserable and cold down there and the climates not very good as well.
They play the wrong sort of football.
Their beer's lousy.
They persist in electing the wrong sorts of governments.
Their rivers are to thick to swim in but to thin to plow.
Dingys are forbidden.
Their anchorages all have lousy holding.
Other than that the place is not to bad.

Re: G day mates!
Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Togreenfeet.
FWIW: Green feet means combat rescue! The origin of the green feet symbol came from Vietnam, when the HH-3E helicopter, also known as the Jolly Green Giant, would land in the rice patties and grass fields, leaving huge impressions that looked like giant green footprints.

Re: G day mates!
If you could get a look at them I think you would find that most people in Melbourne Australia have chilblain white feet.

Re: G day mates!
Green Feet
This tradition arose during the Vietnam War, at which time the most commonly used USAF helicopter was the CH-3E, nicknamed the Jolly Green Giant due to its enormous size and olive drab exterior. The tradition came about when pilots, navigators, enlisted aircrew, or other military personnel were in need of rescue. After these personnel were rescued, they would proceed to receive the temporary ink-stamped "tattoo" of the green feet on their buttocks due to the fact that the Para Jumpers "saved their ass."

Re: G day mates!
Is there anything that GordMay does not know? (He's our resident historian, fact-finder and news-provider, GreenFeet).
Here's something unrelated to Florida but specific to Melbourne, Auz: When I got to spend a year sailing in Australia, I found Melbournites to be the friendliest and funniest of an overall friendly and funny population.
All Hail, Melbourne, Australia and Welcome - ToGreenFeet!
Warmly,
LittleWing
