Re: Free-boat

There are very few things as expensive as a "free" boat. Taking care of a boat is expensive, even if it costs nothing to buy.

My advice, buy a boat of a size, and cost, suitable to your budget. If you have NO budget, stay away from a boat.

Re: Free-boat

My instincts say this a scam to have people go to the website. Ignore the op.

Read the thread 'advice needed to transport my boat to VA,' there is your potentially 'free boat' and no need to use that website! Both parties get their problems solved at the same time too! Look under New Posts right below this one!

Re: Free-boat

Welcome aboard Westbeat! I went to the website and you need to click on any highlighted part of the description you see initially and then it takes you to a full description and a button for you to send a message. I didn't try it and I have no idea if it is legitimate or not. I saw no reason to be suspicious of it but I'll leave that to you. I will say craigslist often has many boats that are nearly free or could be. We have a thread here:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ee-197948.html

that may help too. It can definitely be true that a free boat can turn out to be very expensive if it needs too much to get it sailing and/or if you are not ready to do a lot of work yourself. Then again, bringing a boat back to life can be rewarding especially for kids, as long as it doesn't take too long. And when I say "back to life" I don't necessarily mean back to Bristol condition.
Where are you located?
Good luck and let us know what you find!
