Freak O' Nature

Hello all My name is Joe from NY and have just joined the forum. I hate to ask the same old questions you've all heard before but I'm 6'7" and dream of taking off and sailing to knowwhere or everywhere but I can't find a boat that would fit my freak size. I have a limited amount of experience and am catching up all the time through local racing.
In a question if you were my size and wanted a boat that had decent speed and good stability what would your dream boat be? Don't forget the height thing.

Welcome aboard! I have a friend your size who owned and cruised a Cal 2-46 for the headroom. There are other boats out there with good headroom but that's the only one I know for certain.

Beneteaus have 6-7 6-8 headroom

My saloon has real headroom of 6 foot 8 inches. i.e I just measured it.

its a 39 footer.

Thanks to all that responded to my first post. I will probably never find the perfect boat but maybe ill get lucky. Wow this is pretty cool talking with people around the world neato.

The perfect boat is hard to find. Many beautiful boats I've seen have owners that say its a great liveaboard but its a bit slow or its really fast but there isn't much room or furnishings or storage inside.

Don't forget the cats too, they usually have great head room. Heck, I used to joke about being able to play basketball in a Lagoon 380.

Good lord no

Mines much more restrained than that, the only luxuries will be a king sized bed, very cold fridge freezer, huge opening front windows and a large stable rigid dinghy.
She'll just have a simple white orangepeely hose out 2 pack interior with some small timber trims.

More a functional workhorse than a fashion statement.

I sail with someone who is probably a little taller than you. The biggest problem for him isn't headroom, it's the fact that he doesn't fit into any of the bunks and has to sleep on the saloon floor.

Some of the more modern boats have 'beds' rather than bunks, (where your feet can hang over the end). No use in a sea but that will typically be a small percentage of the time when cruising.
