First timer from Great Lakes

Hi everyone,
First posting to CF......I am boat-less, but have spent a few years sailing on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario with friends....really looking forward to reading and learning from everyone here. Hoping to get a chance to crew for someone and get a small "taste" of the lifestyle before I take the leap.

Peace

I do not know how far you are from Lake Simcoe but I do know at our club we always need crew for Sataurday morning races. If you are interested look up our contact info www.lcyc.com We are a small club no need to join if you want to crew and learn.

Re: First timer from Great Lakes

If you can handle Lake Erie you can handle open ocean. That lake can go from serene to vicious in nothing flat. My father and I were out there on an old wooden 37 ft Egg Harbor, 16 tons of boat. We went from calm to having green water coming over the fly bridge in 30 minutes. In some ways its similar to the west coast of Florida. Too much fetch and too little water. As I recall, the lake is only about 90 ft deep max.

In any event, welcome

Rich
