First boat, excited!!

Hey all, I grew up with a Erickson 32 with my dad sailing the channel islands. Life has changed in a million ways, I have a family of 5 and just bought a cheoy lee ketch. It's in la paz and after our (oregon) fire season is over I'll be sailing her from la paz to channel islands harbor. Super excited as I'll have one of my sons with me except I hear the bash isnt fun. I've never sailed a ketch and it has been about 12 years since I've even sailed but I can't wait for the season to end so I can get down south

Re: First boat, excited!!

Well, welcome to CF and do enjoy your new boat. Yep, the Bash can be unpleasant, but if you have time to harbour hop during better bits of wx, it can be a good cruise. For sure you will learn all about your CL ketch, and maybe a bit about yourself and your son.

Best of luck with the boat and with the fire season's remaining days.

Jim

Way to go!

Here's a great series of CF responses about how the owners love their ketches (from last week) which might help you connect with other ketch owners/lovers who are on the Forum:
