Yup - that's the one they've used as their profile picture anyway. Awesome.

Do you plan on taking breather with you on the boat?

Skip
We're fortunate to have the space and power to install a air and O2 compressor on board so we can manage our own fills for the systems. And maybe provide a few fills for other cruisers we meet along the way. We're excited to get the boat launched and get south and finally get wet again! Haven't dove much this year, focused on the boat. Too bad you're on the other side of the pond or we'd dive together sooner

I hear ya on the schlepping gear thing. We were lucky in that we owned a dive shop/charter company and sold it before we were burned out. But the idea of non-boat dives just exhausts me to think about!

We've done a fair amount of diving in Mexico, so are looking forward to getting wet again there. And this time we'll have better fills in many ways!

Cheers,

YES! This is our boat! This is her launch picture taken Sept 17, 1934. She was commissioned by Randolph Hearst, built by Pankee in Los Angeles. After many years in charter, retired, etc., we bought her in 2007 and she was in bad need of work. So, 36 months after bringing her to the wooden boat experts, she's due to re-launch on July 13th. We are putting the yard arm back on as she had it removed and was reconfigured into a Staysail Schooner in the 50's when Howard Hughes owned her. So, yes, this is our Destiny and we're very blessed and excited to get her back in the water where she belongs.

Glad the pix finally made it into the cyber zone!!

Cheers,

Awesome! Have you ever done the haha before? We're newbies to it and couldn't be more excited. We'll be taking our time coming down from Port Townsend, stopping to explore along the way. Any suggestions you'd care to impart? Our plan is to be in San Diego proper around the 18th or so. Don't know yet where to make reservations for Destiny - packet hasn't arrived yet from the Grand Poobah.

Are you staying in Mexico or continuing elsewhere?

Cheers,

Re: Finally - We're Registered !

Finally, Destiny is coming out of the hanger at 1:30 pm today! She's got most of her new color hull paint on and the bottom paint. Decided to not paint the bulwarks, just going to oil them along with oiling the deck. There'll be enough to varnish with cap rails and the coach house, deck furniture and such. Castoff date is set for Sept 20 from Port Townsend to head to San Diego! Can't believe it's actually happening!

This is our first time in the ha ha. We have kinda the opposite boat situation. We are currently the smallest boat signed up at only 28 feet. We are cruising on the cheap so we will be anchoring at almost every stop. We plan on getting to San Diego around the 18th also, I'm sure we won't be able to miss your sticks in the harbor! We will be sure to stop by!

Cheers,
Jon

Re: Finally - We're Registered !

You MUST provide more pictures of that beauty. In the blocks, the launching, first sail, etc., etc., etc.
