Finally starting to live my dreams!

Hello everyone

Bryan here. This year I purchased Carpe Diem!
Foggers group, not sure if link will work

1978 Freeport 36 islander. It has some cosmetic issues that need fixing but so far the bones are in good shape.

I'm so excited to start this part of my life, been looking forward to it for decades! I grew up in California's bay area. Dad had a Jet boat and we'd go to the delta, lake Shasta, Tahoe... almost every weekend.
When we moved to Washington in the early 80's my grandparents had a 32' carver cruiser and they would take us around the Puget sound all summers long.
Joined the Navy and became a submariner. Didn't get to sea the water much, but still was fantastic experience.

Now I'm in Portland with a sailboat learning to sail on the Columbia. Getting her fixed up and set up the way I want her. The big dream is to explore the Puget Sound, Canadian coast, Alaska, Aleutian Islands, circle Japan then head to the south Pacific. Have a lot to learn, and if I can accomplish a portion of my dreams I can die a happy man!

Re: Finally starting to live my dreams!

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

You'd be going the wrong way.

Re: Finally starting to live my dreams!

It’s wrong way because prevailing winds will be against you for the better part of 4,000nm in areas known for fierce storms even during the summer.

Reverse the itinerary and it will still be very challenging.
