Finally joined after many hours of reading...

Greetings to everyone on this wonderful board. I've been reading here for quite a while now and wanted to express my appreciation for the content of the pages and the character of the members here. I'm a maritime academy graduate, know my way around pleasure craft, and have sailed the globe on all kinds of commercial ships but I'm still amazed at how much there is to be learned here and how many helpful people are willing to share their knowledge and experience.

I don't own a boat (I live in LA, I can't even afford a house) but have promised myself that one day I will, and when I do I'm going to sail the hell out of it. My dream is a pretty common one around here, which is to get myself in a position to spend at least a few years cruising and kiss the world as I know it goodbye for a little while. How this will happen I don't know for sure, but that's why it's called a dream instead of a plan...

Welcome aboard!! There really is a great group of folks on this forum who are more than willing to help with opinions and to share their knowledge. Just in the few months I've been visiting I've learned a great deal.

I am quite new here as well, not "cruising" - but I really enjoy reading a forum where most folks do seem to know what they are talking about.

Be carefull of dreams...... they can end up making your life differant and exciting and challenging and......... "l had a dream".. and oh oh now l have one boat on the water and am building a bigger one. The only differance between dreams and plans is that plans are more likely to change... go for it cheers Martin
