Excited to Liveaboard in Boston.

Hello all! My name is Rebecca and my fiance and I recently fell in love with sailing. We live in the Boston area and are looking to start livingaboard in the very near future. We are excited to become a part of many new communities and want to thank you all in advance for your help and support! We have *a lot* to learn, but we love learning and we love adventures. So here we go!

I am a graduate student at MIT, as well as a visual artist, and my fiance is a metal/wood/lightening/lots of other stuff fabricator and designer in the Somerville area. We love making things, modifying things, and making stuff work!

We take a slip at the Constitution Marina in Charlestown on occasion. There's an active liveaboard community there that can be very helpfull.

Re: Excited to Liveaboard in Boston.

I lived aboard in the Boston area (Winthrop) once upon a time.

The advice given to me prior was that living aboard a sailboat in NE in winter is the most expensive way there is to go second class!

Good advice but lots of people make it work.

Good luck!

Re: Excited to Liveaboard in Boston.

Welcome. You are way down south in Boston huh? My wife and I love living aboard in the winter. We have a diesel heater that costs us about $800 per winter to heat the boat. Much cheaper than the $4000 it cost us to heat our house and we are warmer. Check out our website for more info on the heater and some picks of our winter "sun porch"
