Smile Delighted to be here!

Welcome aboard our humble home.

We (actually, I (Joe)) have been spending far too much time on another board dominated by too many non-cruising fools pontificating and flaming each other over fringe political issues. What I see here is a refreshing change after all that nonsense.

We managed to retire early (at 55) and move aboard our new Nauticat 42 "Karen M" (Named after our daughter, so she'd know how we blew her inheritance -- click on our homepage icon for more pix) in June 2003. Since then we have cruised the east coast (mostly outside) from Tampa Bay to the coast of Maine and are now in Ft. Lauderdale, temporarily delayed from our Bahamas/Caribbean plans by Peg's broken wrist (She tripped in the marina parking lot and recovery looks promising). We'll probably head north for the upcoming hurricane season, perhaps again to Maine.

I am a native of the Boston area , but I found my irreplacible first mate in the midwest. She's a retired nurse practitioner/clinical specialist in oncology. I am a retired fed and former nuclear submarine officer with some flying in my resume.

We enjoy meeting other cruisers and sincere wannabes, so look us up in Ft. Lauderdale over the next month.

Joe and Peg,

It's good to have another ex-Navy guy here. If I hadn't been so independant I probably would have done 20- 30 myself.

We also have a thread for the fliers here as well. It's towards the bottom of the threads page under Marine Aviation.

You have a nice vessel, something my wife would probably like but I'm more into proformance vessels.

Cruising

Welcome aboard Joe and Peg,

Congratulations on making it into a cruising career. Some times, it's hard getting it all to come together, making it possible.I hope to make it in a few years. I recognize the picture you posted of Ft.Jefferson. I sailed my 26 footer there last Spring. It's an interesting anchorage, with some great fishing in the surrounding area. You have a beautiful boat. I imagine it to be a comfortable new home. Good luck on your new sailing lifestyle

Congratulations. We're in the process of selling the house and taking off ourselves. Currently, the boat is on the Chesapeake, near Annapolis. Maybe, we'll run into you this summer as you wander the east coast.

Thanks, BruceO.
Nauticat wants to exhibit our boat at the Annapolis Sailboat Show this fall. We haven't yet worked out the details, but will probably spend much of the upcoming season in the Chesapeake.

Let us know when you're up this way.

We can also be found on the bay. Still a year or so away from leaving according to the current plan.
