Hi! Long time lurker, first time poster
I'm 54 now, have been sailing since I was about 6. Have always been happy to be on a
boat. Grew up sailing on
lake superior. Sailed in the
San Francisco bay most of my adult life. Moved to Ventura (Southern California) in 2017 and started
living aboard there. Have lived aboard ever since -- first in a 1977
Cal 34, now in a 1998
Beneteau 461.
I LOVE
living aboard. I'm right next to a gorgeous beach and the
weather is perfect most of the time. Unlike many of my neighbors, I take my
boat out regularly for day
sails and for one to five day trips to the local islands and other spots around So.
Cal.
I have a 21-year-old son who is profoundly physically and developmentally disabled and deaf. He's the reason I moved to Ventura - to be close to him when he moved into a group home there. I also have a girlfriend / partner who has 2 teenaged
kids. We don't live together but she will move onto the boat when her
kids move out of the house.
My partner and I are planning to start cruising full time in 2025 after her kids are both out of the house.
Current plan is to spend a year getting our bearings in the Gulf of
California, then
French Polynesia, then figure out the best way to get from there to the
Caribbean.
