Chicago Sailing Community

Hello! I am new to sailing and I want to meet other sailors in the Chicago area. I don't have a boat right now and I need some friends to go out on the water with. I am a young professional woman looking to escape the cube and season myself for some serious cruising in the next few years.

Re: Chicago sailing communuty

Welcome to the forum Dresailing.
This is a good start to finding some sailing buddies, I'd also recommend going down to the marinas or yacht clubs.

Hi and welcome,
I don't know your sailing region but you'll almost certainly get a crew spot if you decide to get involved in racing from a local club. Most people new to sailing assume its hard to get involved, but the reality is a reasonable sized race boat needs probably 8 crew - and most skippers struggle to find crew reliable enough to trust. Don't worry about the lack of experience - that will come with time and some study - just get along to a few local clubs and ask around.
Good luck
JOHN

Re: Chicago Sailing Community

Welcome to Chicago! There are a number of options for sailing. You can connect with boat owners through the yacht clubs in each harbor. Chicago Sailing offers hourly boat rentals and club sailing 4 times a week. There is also Sail Chicago which is a membership organization.

New Page 1

Check some skippers and boats. I can feel your pain because I sold my boat.
