Welcome to the forum Tatanna. There is a thread category entitled destinations. You may have better luck there.

Hi Tatyanna,

Here its the link to the Destinations forum, Caribbean section:

https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f19/

If you put your post there it may get more relevant attention.
I can tell you that the answer will depend on the Where AND When of your visit. Places that had negligible crime may become hotspots, and the reverse. There are sites like this that try to document Caribbean specific crime data:

Re: Carribean Sea Safe Sails or Not

We have spent 4 seasons in the Carib, Bahamas down to Grenada. We intend to return in March/April.

As to currents your question covers a gery broad geographical area. There area areas with substantial currents but none I would consider “unsafe” because of currents.

As to cruising as a single female hou probably have some greater risk than as a single male or couple. In my experience the risks are about what you would expect in any large metro area. **** happens but most time if you have good situational aqarness yiu can mitigate successfully. So far I have had only one night where Istayed in the cockpit due to concerns, and that was onlyfor an hour or 2.

The waters off Hondouras are another matter and should be avoided. This is a well documented problem area.

Bocas del Dragon between Trinidad and Venezuela is famous for currents. Certainly was true when I went through there. Also, the stretch along the coast west to Panama is often pretty rough when the trades are really honking.
