Baja Malibu. Well I have a boat now I'm trying to figure out how to keep it

I inherited a nice blue water boat, but I'm finding out it's hard to find a place to store it. I'm in Texas now, before my dad passed away I was on my way to live at baja Malibu Mexico. I would love to have the boat with me on the pacific coast, but there is a year waiting list for mooring in San Diego; and boat slips in baja are 400 dollars a month. I was thinking I could move the boat to a property in baja Malibu. Does anyone know of a moving service in Ensenada? Or have any ideas? Any advice would be helpful

South CA area is one of the most expensive places in the US to rent a slip. Seems like the costs bleed across the border as well.

There is no secret, cheap deal. Either move the boat further south in Mexico, further north in CA or keep it on the Gulf coast.

It's not that the water is bluer on the other side of the ocean; but then again it really is, but that is not the reason. I like to surf, have you ever surfed in Texas? Well it sure sucks

I haven't surfed TX but have surfed FL and it's not much better. You just have to decide which sucks the least, paying CA dock rent or finding another way to surf the west coast.

Reality is south CA is the high rent district and there's no way around it although I hear there are some low cost places to live in east LA.

I was just playing around with the blue water thing. I have a really cheap place to live across the border in Mexico. I speak really good Spanish, what I mx lolling for is an affordable place to keep my boat, or a way to move it to a lot in baja Malibu

If you are worried about $400 dollars per month, don't even consider taking your boat to Southern California... Not only will berths be significantly higher, but you also will be taxed 1% of the boats appraised value annually.

You want the boat in Malibu (Rosarito), but I don't know of any marinas there or safe anchorages... What is your plan?

My problem is not getting there, it's where yo keep my boat when I get there. When I am not out sailing

I think you'll spend more than $400 a month moving the boat to your property to store it

The surfing in Florida is better than the surfing in New England! The water really is bluer elsewhere

If you want to surf the West Coast - I'd recommend an RV or van (or a car and a tent) over a boat. That's the way I did it. From what everyone is saying about California sailing, it's expensive. And while I'm sure there are breaks that having a boat would open up, there are so many good surf spots in CA I doubt you'll feel like you're missing out if you go land-based - especially if your reference point for good surf is Texas!

Well I have a game plan I found some places further south in Mexico to keep the boat. I would like to live on the boat, but there is still the problem of where to live on the boat but the problem is where, seeing San Diego is so crowded. I don't have the boat fixed up all the way to live on the hook. I still need to get solar panels and wind generators, plus I have to hook up my water maker.
My reference for good surf is dsfinaty not texas, it's just the place I learned to surf, I like heavy surf. I plan to go do some exploring in the boat, not just hang around Cali, but have to have a place to park when I am working
