Bahama Mama

So the idea of sailing is in harbor now. My boyfriend and I are about 4 months away from seeing paradise. We are just now starting to get a feel for the ins and outs of the adventure we are about to experience, I can't wait to be out there living it!

Welcome on board. Have you got the boat yet or still shopping?

Welcome and hope your dream stays on track.

Bahamas?

I'm heading over for a few months this January. Can't wait. Love it there.

Mix over ice & shake:
* 1/2 oz. lemon juice
* 2 oz. orange juice
* 2 oz. pineapple juice
* 1/2 oz. light rum
* 1/2 oz. gold rum
* 1/2 oz. dark rum
* 1 oz. coconut liqueur or coconut rum (Malibu)
* 1/2 oz. cherry liqueur or splash of grenadine
* dash of bitters
* Optional (I don't use it) 1/2 oz. coffee liqueur (Kahlua)
and you've got a wonderful

Actually, there are lots of different Bahama Mammas. One of them lives/lived in the pink house near George Town on Grand Exuma island. From the logs of Destiny Calls circa 1998:

"11:10 - I decide to walk up to the telephone office to call my mom. On the way I bump into Dave from "Allegra" and we head over together just in time to see two chickens get hit by a Jitney. The Jitney doesn't stop. The chickens do. A lady comes out from a pink house and checks out the chickens. Dave and I head over to the Batelco office.....

12:10 - Dave and I walk back to town past the lady in the pink house. She's put a table out by the street and is selling BBQ'ed chicken served with peas and rice along with plantain for $ 4.00!!!! Dave and I have lunch and agree that it's very tasty and likely very fresh."

The Bahamas are crazy cool.

When I got to Asia I was told to be very careful of running over someone's chicken. If I did I would be responsible to pay for the eggs that chicken would lay in its life, the chicks that would hatch and the chicks they would hatch and so on for generations to come. It could cost THOUSANDS!

One day on the way to work I ran over a chicken. I didn't stop. The next day I dropped by and gave the lady a new chicken that I bought down the road for $3.

Such is the thinking of the western mind - LOL...
