Aspiring young sailor for blue water cruising

Hi all,

My name is Joe and I am in the lead up years to preparing for my long awaited plan to circumnavigate Australia.Only 3 years to go before last child finishes school and then its a 3 year plan to prepare mentally, physically and emotionally to depart from family and work to embark on this journey.

I dont know why its calling my name so loud as I am actually a bit scared but over excited to take on the adventure. I have been wanting to do this journey since my 20's but then something came along. Life and family!

Anyway the time is approaching and I am glad at this stage I am fit and healthy so planning is in progress.

I have started journey planning on this new sailing simulator called sailaway that is somehow connected to real time weather so you can sail as the conditions are in your area.

So its nice to be here with you all and hopefully our winds will cross and we can share a story or drink or maybe even both. Cheers for now!

It was something similar that called my name long ago, but for me it was the California coast... and actually started when my dad would talk about rowing the length of California in a dory. Good luck to you! Fear not! Get out in some little boat to practice in and have fun.. and the trepidations will be washed away!

Sounds like you have "The Dream" that many of us have too.

The idea of circumnavigating Australia is appealing. So much coastline and so much to see. I think it would be a nice challenge and unforgettable. I wish I could do it too.

This forum is a great place to learn, share some humor and knowledge, and a very good online community.
