Another New Kid On The Block!

Hello eveyone. I am looking forward to sharing with yall, and learning a thing or two about sailing! My husband and I are trying to purchase our first boat, a Heritage Custom 38ft, 1976, and will have to do quite a bit of work on her before she will be ready to hit the water. The funny thing about all this, is we know practically nada about sailing. We have always wanted to, and now we will be getting the chance. We plan on moving her to our daughter's place and doing the refit there, she needs paint and varnish, inside and out, and a new c/b pivot bolt. She hasn't been sailed in 4 or 5 years, so I know we are looking at some big repairs on her engine. Plus a host of other things, but the hull is good, and doesn't have any rot other than the cabin top. Well, I love adventure, and it looks like I'm in for it!! LOL. What do ya think??

Boat projects are one of the topics we cover here every day. We all have a lot of them and it's hard to imagine anything you might need to do that a few here have not done. Share your experiences and take advantage of the wealth of topics already covered here. We have a few Texans as well.

Aloha Kay,

Welcome aboard! Good to have you here. Ask lots of questions and you'll find all kinds of folks that have done or are doing the same thing.

Our search engine used to work a lot better but you might try finding the things that you are working on using the search engine on this forum. If you can't find the information then just post a new thread under construction and refit.

Kind Regards,

JohnL

Talking Thanks for the greets!

I appreciate the warm welcomes! I am already impressed by the wealth of information this site delivers. I'm looking forward to following all your advice on the re-fit of Island Lady, and can't wait to get her ready to go, and post some great pics for all of you. I hope to have everything lined up soon, and start asking about all the much needed repairs. So far, it doesn't look like much more than some varnish and elbow grease! So, here's to a long friendship with you all! Much Thanks!
