An Okie going to the sea.....

Howdy folks. I have been chasing my dream of sailing the ocean and the rubber has finally met the road. I had my Oceanis 400 hauled from Grand Lake to the Port of Muskogee Oklahoma. There I started my single handed adventure down the Arkansas River, made a right at the Mississippi and currently I am resting at mile 30 of the Atchafalaya River. Not having any river experience, it has been a very steep learning curve. I am ready to get to the coast, put the mast back up and clean the mud off the "Mystic Wind". Anyone wanting a list of what not to do on the river, drop me a line. I'll be happy to share.
Cheers!

Aww, come on... you know you want to tell us... have at it! You will find a mostly sympathetic audience to stories of misadventure, and I doubt if anything you experienced is unique.

And welcome to CF.

I also want to hear the stories, and solemnly swear to be nothing but empathetic and supportive.

Re: An Okie going to the sea.....

Someone once told me that “in theory” a destroyer could steam up the Mississippi, hang a left at the Arkansas and be able to shell Tulsa. Any truth to that?

BTW, fellow Okie here underway on fourth year of a Pacific loop, currently in New Zealand. Adventure awaits Boomer (Sooner)!

You sailed past my place. My farm /ranch is just off the arkansas river downstream of Ozark.
Have fun and tell us about your trip
Thx-Ace
