Aloha Sailors!

Hi,
My wife Siu Ing and I just joined the forum. We don't have a boat yet, but we're thinking of it. First, she's got to pass an ASA course or two. I used to have a little Venture 22 on the upper Chesapeake and now would love to enjoy the Hawaiian Islands in something more appropriate (like twice the length and 10 times the displacement).

I'm glad I found this. I was searching for first hand information on marinas and moorings in Hawaii, when this came up as a link. So, if any of you have some good info, I'll be most grateful.

Looking forward to meeting lots of good sailors here in cyberspace!

Keith

Greetings Keith & Siu Ing, and welcome aboard.
While the ASA courses may form the basis of your bride's further developement as a sailor; she doesn't need anything but a desire to sail, to get started.

Aloha Keith and Siu Ing,

If you were here on the Big Island I'd invite you to our once a month Sailing 101 course (one day free). Our website is www.hilo-sailing.org.

Welcome aboard and look to this website to find information on Hawaii slips and moorings and anything else that's been covered by this forum.

Cruisers & Sailing Forum

Kind regards,

JohnL

Mahalo!

Thanks for all the good vibes!

Siu Ing likes the comment about desire being the only thing necessary. I agree and I'm hoping her love of windy days translates into a love of some nice salt spray.

If we set a course for Hilo, we'll look forward to meeting SkprJohn and company.

Thanks all!
Keith

Waikiki Yacht club now offers adult sailing lessons. If you hang around the Ala Wai you should be able to get a ride on a Friday for the fun race. Both WYC and HYC are low key clubs. Check with the office at WYC for nformtion on the sailing class of go to the WYC web site and look in the Windward Beat
