Aloha from Cold Minnesota

Howzit everyone. I'm a former sailor and hope to be again one day. I've sailed since I was 18 and owned several boats over the last 40 years. My last boat was a Stiletto 27 that I had shipped on a big boat to Kona, Hawaii from Long Beach, Calif. We were members of the Kona Sailing Club for a number of years until selling the boat due to lack of sailing time as we were under construction building several homes there. We're looking to sell our busy inn here in Minnesota and move either to Florida or back to Hawaii for another business adventure.

either place sounds good to me. lots of sailing and exploring to be done in south florida and the keys or bahamas. no hurricanes in hawaii. hope you thaw out soon in Minnesota.

aloha from Hilo and Na Hoa Holomoku, Haoleman. Least you nevah call yourself haoleboy! Welcome to the forum. We do not get a lot of hurricanes here, but when they do hit, they are usually 4-5 on the scale. Oh, and let us not forget the tsunamis.
Aloha and welcome and good to have you on board!

Howzit seasoned?

I live Kona side from 87 to 02. Used to sail with the Hilo sailing club at Kawaihae. If you a member ask about the time we got caught in the Kohala express over our joint Labor Day sailing event. Force 10+ that day from zero in 1 minute. Almost lost my life that time. Got sandblasted 1 1/2 miles out to sea on the Puako side. Broke da boat too!

Aloha and welcome aboard!

I know quite a few of the old timers on the Kona side. Still friends with Alicia and Daniel Starsong.

Happy sailing!

regards,
