Ahoy from Chicago - Newbie Looking to Learn

Hi (soon to be) fellow sailors,

I am a 6'6" man from Chicago who has just been bitten by the sailing bug. I was on my friends boat a few years ago, but the concept did grip me until recently. Anyway, I'm anxious to start learning all I can. I live just outside the Loop and would love to meet some Captains any of the Chicago harbors who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes (literally). I'm married so I can bring my wife if yours will be in attendance.

I'm serious about this. Naturally my long term goal is to get my own boat, so I want to learn all I can to take the necessary exams to be come a certified Captain. So look me up. As I stated I'm 6'6", so it would help if your boat had appropriate headroom below decks but that's not a deal breaker.

See ya at the harbor.

Hey there, Tall Sailor. I have a friend that just got his Capt. License in Holland, Michigan. If you would like time on the boat he may be available to help out. He plans to do day charters out of Holland. So feel free to contact me if that is of interest.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. Hard to find a boat with enough headroom but they do exist.
kind regards,
