My father has been a marine engineer all his life but never went to college. He got his license the old way starting at the bottom and worked up to chief engineer.

He came up through the Hawsepipe, I respect that, it isn't easy to do.

nigel1, also worked the North Sea, 4 weeks on 4 off, but on a drill ship.
