Ahoy from Afghanistan!

Living/working in Afghanistan for last several years, looking forward to returning home to Dunedin, FL someday where I hope to get back into sailing. Not much of a waterview here on Bagram, but I have plenty of visions of sailing along the Gulf coast waters at home. I get to leave here to visit the states a few times a year and thought about trying to get out on the water by shopping for a boat while home in January. I have not owned my own boat since selling my San Juan 23 back in '93, would love to sail again in January somehow - might even rent a dinghy from the local sailing association.
Anyway, hello to all, have enjoyed reading some of your stories and ideas, look forward to being in contact with some of you in the future.
Stay safe wherever you are.

Welcome to CF Joe!

I think we all will be incredibly disappointed if you don't follow through with your plans... You need to sail again soon my friend...

PS:Sailed a 34 SJ.... really liked her...

Re: Ahoy from Afghanistan!

I hear you, Joe.

It's only been a few weeks since we put the boat away for the season, and I'm already pining to be on the the water. I feel so far away from sailing, I might as well be in Afganhistan. Here's to dreaming until that day comes. Hopefully sooner for you than me.
