Ahoy

Hello and thanx for the welcome. Guess I can tell you bout myself. Im a 30 year old self proclaimed adventurer geting ready to move back to the keys to buy my first boat , learn to sail and live my dream. I don't know much about sailing but I've spent a lot of time at sea as a commercial fishermen from the south Pacific to alaska. This has been my dream of dreams and I know I possess the constitution to do it and enjoy it. Im looking into buying a vessel I can live on and do some long distant cruising. The Caribbean for a start so any tips would greatly help. Im on an extremely tight budget and a bit of a minimalist. I don't need the vancey stuff to be comfortable. Just the sea any tips would help ie: type of vessel, where I can get one cheap, equipment and best way to learn lol thanx and I hope to c u all out there!

Re: Ahoy

my recommendation is to first run away from home and sail other folks boats --that will open ye up to different kinds of boats and folks and help ye fine tune a tad.
btw---welcome!
look everywhere for your boat--do not limit yourself to specified locales--there are cruising areas everywhere. never know what you will miss if you limit too much.
have fun searching and learning and smooooth sailing!

Re: Ahoy

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. You do mean a lonely rich widow with a sailboat don't you? When I was single in the Norfolk area and stilll in the Navy I did a personal ad requesting a single female sailboat Captain. Darned if I didn't get a response. She owned a nearly new Sunfish on a trailer and we had some fun on the bay picnicking on an island.
If you aren't familiar with Sunfish, they are 14 foot board boats. Great fun but not quite what I had in mind since my last boat at that time was a 35 foot ketch. Great fun anyway.
kind regards,
