About time, hello from Vancouver

I have been lurking for a while and wanted to hold off posting until I officially had a sailboat. Well the time has almost come, have an accepted offer on a Sun Odyssey 409. Have some questions on that boat but will open a new thread and keep this one about intros.

I sailed as a kid with a dinghy and my friends laser but until recently havent sailed too much. Turning 50 this year and realizing my weekend warrior sports and hobbies are taking their toll, looked to get back sailing and a new lifestyle for my wife and I. She has wanted a sailboat forever but I always noped it because we didnt have the time or the budget to do it. Well things have changed and we are learning to sail and eventually full time cruising.

I have a some courses completed with Sail Canada and just signed up for NauticEd as well as it will be more cost effective once we have our own boat.

Anyway, looking forward to being part of the community and meeting up with anyone in the area.

Re: About time, hello from Vancouver

Welcome to cf, from a fellow Canadian. I'm from edmonton Alberta, but did a couple charters in Vancouver and the gulf islands. You have a beautiful playground there for your new boat! Enjoy it.
I'm on the other coast now, actually just checked into the Bahamas today. Sailing and cruising opens up a lot of travel options, as well as ways to escape the snow and cold. And floods! I hope you and yours faired well through that!
Stay safe, and ask any questions here you may have. There are alot of very knowledgeable sailors and cruisers in our ranks.(I'm not one of them, but I muddle through)

Welcome aboard bccoast, Loved to visit Vancouver when we lived in Ferndale, Wa. Spent the day touring Granville Island, China Town and North Van by ferry.
