Probably not. But I'll bet I read about 20k posts before it's all over.

I'm Hans, I'm a commercial fisherman based in Sitka, AK. I run my own boat, the Diamond Lil. She is a Monk designed 47' steel freezer troller I both live on and fish from. Before I committed to fishing full-time, I crewed on a Cal 40 for years while racing in the the Swiftsure and Puget Sound "Center Sound Series." I do miss it.

I'm getting to the point I enjoy fishing between the Gulf of Alaska winter storms less and less. More frequently than not this year, I've found myself dreaming of tying up my beloved Diamond Lil and flying off to lower latitudes with a bit more fun and sun on offer. I am absolutely addicted to being on the ocean, so I don't see many harbor days in my dreams, but certainly enjoy people who enjoy life. Mostly, I'm dreaming of many hours of engine-noise-free bliss on the ocean swell.

I'll probably lurk for a while, and get a sense of the board before I start to contribute in a serious way. I feel as though I could have something to offer in terms of mechanical systems and info re: transiting the Pacific coast. I've captained the Inside Passage in my own boats 14 times (7 each way) and helped others take their boats through 4 times. I've done a few yacht deliveries from Washington to San Fran and Newport Beach.

I suppose that's enough tooting of my own horn for now.

Looking forward to learning a lot here, and seeing if the cruising life is for me.

Hans

Hey Hans, welcome aboard!!

It sounds like you should be a good CFer with lots of stories to tell, some of which might be true. I look forward to hearing them...
