This one slipped off the back; sometimes the boat tries to lead the towing vehicle which also doesn't go well.
There are obvious reasons for utilizing strong straps to tie the boat to the trailer and to permanently lock the winch ratchet mechanism and not just engage the ratchet pin.
The boat on the ground I’ve seen several times, usually at a red light or stop sign when the tow vehicle takes off.
It’s actually quite easy to recover, you don’t need a wrecker or crane, just disconnect the trailer and connect the winch cable to the boat and winch just like normal, instead of pulling the boat onto the trailer, it will pull the trailer under the boat.
I passed a Bayliner laying in a ditch just past a curve. Slowed and asked the guy if he needed any help.
A few weeks later my friend showed me the boat he bought, it was the same Bayliner. My friend, luckily, just wanted the engine, but had no idea the boat had fallen off the trailer.

You might not be aware, but the last picture with the boat named Contessa, the owner was crushed to death when it tipped over on top of him. That said the “are we having fun?” Comment might not have been in the best of tastes...just an FYI.

Was this photo taken before or after the body was removed? It doesn't appear that any urgency or effort has been taken to move the boat in this photo... so I'm guessing that the photographer was aware that there was a dead body under there?

Not to be a real downer but:
The story is true concerning Contessa, it happened in 2009 in Maryland.
That doesn’t look to be the same boat, and I believe the Contessa above was in the US?
So both boats fell off of their stands, killing people?
Sadly, both of the sailboats in the bottom two pictures resulted in the owners death..I remember the conversations regarding "Contessa" in forums...I had found a story online, but lost it before I could cut and paste it. It is old enough that most news sites don't have it in their archives anymore. (10 years ago, 2009). I almost had mine fall over when it was being loaded by the driver of a hydraulic trailer, the driver stopped short by an inch or so from knocking over the last set of stands when backing up the trailer..scared me shitless.
