Re: Yanmar injector removal

Welcome aboard CF, Jefmo39.

What model Yanmar or if not know, how many cylinders and approximate age?

All the Yanmar injectors I'm familiar with just pull out once the "top" retaining collar is removed. I say "just pull out" but sometimes it can be a bit difficult.

I'm confused though with your description of "pretty much flush with the head". IME, they are not flush at all unless you have already disassembled the injector body.

Re: Yanmar injector removal

Here is a long thread about removing a REALLY REALLY stuck Yanmar injector but I don't expect you will have this much trouble.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ve-210170.html

In this instance, the engine was a 40 year old Yanmar 2QM20 but the arrangement with the injectors is similar across many Yanmar engines (Y & S series, QM series, GM series, HM series, JH series).

Re: Yanmar injector removal

Remove retaining set up and theoretically they should come right out. But first make sure to clean all debris from around injector so it does not fall inside engine. On my first boat with a 3HM35f all but one came right out. Had to work the last one......

Re: Yanmar injector removal

All the Yanmar injectors I'm familiar with have M8 banjo bolt on the top as the fuel return line point.

Remove the banjo bolt and fit a M8 bolt. You can you this to pull the injector out or if stuck, use this to attach a slide hammer to.

Use a lever against fuel line port to try to lift the injector at the same time as the slide hammer.

In the thread referenced above, there are some good ideas about fabricating a injector puller etc.
