What happened to Whisper

My husband just finished "Two Against Cape Horn" by the Roths and we were wondering what happened to their boat Whisper. Upon researching the question online all I can find is "...upon moving to Maine they sold Whisper and bought...."

Does anyone know if the boat is still out there? Thanks.

Re: What happened to Whisper

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that it was sold a few years later for around $20,000.

Re: What happened to Whisper

I believe the Roth's was a Spencer 35 or 36. Probably gone by now.

Re: What happened to Whisper

Yes it was a Spencer. Seems I heard it was in California, but not sure. I was surprised that they sold Whisper in the '78+ time frame and moved to Maine. Seems like so long ago, the Roth adventures are so fresh in my mind at times it feels much later than that to me. Both are passed on now.

Re: What happened to Whisper

Did a little online research and could find nothing on the original Whisper, a Spencer 35. I did find what seems to be the second Whisper a Pretorian 35.

Re: What happened to Whisper

Thanks everyone - please don't go to any trouble. Being a history geek these questions always occur to me but they are random....

Just another way to pass an unexpected snow storm at 49N....
