Try using AIS or radar here. Sail 2015
Recently there was an event in
Amsterdam
called Sail 2015. Something like 800 vessels traveled down the
canal
.
Just imagine if every vessel was carrying an
AIS
transponder
There must have been a few collisions there.

Not a good place to loose your
propulsion
. I definitely would have had my
radar
and
AIS
turned off.
