Now you've really confused me.
Does this mean that the new day dosen't start until one o'clock?
And why the heck did they set off all those fireworks one second after midnight on Jan 1, 2000?
GordMay we may need a ruling here.

Perhaps we can post the greatest stories of the decade so far.
Or just the best stories from the last 10 years

'Cause they got it wrong and didn't care - well actually they might have cared but couldn't stem the tide of ignorant public opinion.
Start anything off (like a new day or a new minute) and when it is finished, you have accounted for 1 event. After repeating the event ten times you are now at the END of event 10. So a next decade of such a event occurs at the END of the 10th cycle not at the beginning.

Thanks for reminding us, Christian!
* Dihydrogen Monoxide or DHMO (“Dihydrogen” indicates two hydrogen atoms, or “H2” and “Monoxide” refers to a single oxygen atom, or “O”) is a colourless and odourless chemical compound, also referred to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid.
Its basis is the highly reactive hydroxyl radical, a species shown to mutate DNA, denature proteins, disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters. The atomic components of DHMO are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol.
Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

Ok, now it makes sense!
decade definition
dec·ade (dek ′ād′; also, and for 3 usually, dek ′əd, -id; Brit also di kād ′, də-)
noun - a group of ten
- a period of ten years; esp., in the Gregorian calendar
- officially a ten-year period beginning with the year 1, as 1921-1930, 1931-1940, etc.
- in common usage, a ten-year period beginning with a year 0, as 1920-1929, 1930-1939, etc.

The thing is, us humans can define decade to be anything we want it to be.
So who is to say which of us humans are right and which are wrong?
