Re: Too Funny !
wotname, nice use of the BONE profile pic
as for the boat... it's not shiny or flashy, and that's what i like about it. i don't know nearly enough about cruisers to say whether or not it is worth the price. but assuming all is structurally/mechanically well, i wouldn't have any qualms about buying a boat like that. even if it's a little pricey, you're paying for character

Yes...I was going to say the same thing...To me this boat has done some cruising. More than I can say for the 98% of the boats resting in slips being waxed by their owners. It's a proven design, easy on maintenance and priced for someone that wants to go voyaging on a beer budget. Other than limited sailing characteristics, it's a good boat.

Re: Too Funny !

Re: Too Funny !
I wonder how the fellas at my marina would act if I were to hang a couple tires off my boat? They freaked when I into her slip past their 350,000 dollar power yachts under sail alone....:-)
A few tires might be enough to send them over the edge into a complete frenzy.
How diabolicle! i love it!

Maybe it's an antipiracy technique. The pirates might think "We're not going to kidnap them, they will eat us out of house and home".

Re: Too Funny !
See the photo below of Sea Life going into a lock in Panama Canal and small ship (!) ahead of us. Note the tires (tyres for those that spell propberly) incased in plastic with tape to starboard. These are a requirement so you don't damage the locks.
By the way, when closed up iin the lock we are very close to the ship ahead. When the lock opens and the ship takes off the thrust from their prop can be a taddishly huge. This ship was fine because he knew we were there plus he was fully loaded but they say its a bit of fun when a ship is lite and have the prop half out of the water cavitating like all hell.
But I do think that the photo in the ad is pretty crook! They must have had a better pic or 2 in all their circumnavigation. Unless it was raining for 4 years.....

Re: Too Funny !
The advantage of that boat is it's already looking like it would when you cruise... you dont even have to add the tires for when they raft you up to a supertanker going through the Panama canal!

If I had 17,000 and was looking for a larger boat to sail around the world, I'd probably say, "I found my next boat."

Wonder what size wheel it has? As you can tell from the picture, some of the passengers are way smarter than others!
