I was partially involved in his
rescue (as were perhaps another 400 people or so) - my part was keeping up the supply of electronic
repair parts for the search aircraft, so about as tenuous of a link to the rescue as possible.....
Tony, being the true gentleman he was did not care, he hired the Adelaide town hall and invited all the involved personnel for dinner on him. Didn’t see him eat, but he did
work the room until he had shaken the hands of every
single person and given his personal thank you.
