All engineers, and most mathematicians, are humor impaired!

Not according to the IAU.

But then, a lot of very highly qualified people have never accepted the vote of 400 odd out of 9000 IAU members that "de-planetised" it

Re: The New Joke Thread

If you want a math joke.

There’s three houses on a street in California. One night, a fire sweeps up the hill, threatening all the houses. In the first house lives an engineer. He grabs his fire extinguisher, expends it all on the fire and returns to bed.

The scientist in the second house gets out his fire extinguisher, measures the ambient temperature, test the grass for moisture content, brings out the bathroom scale and applies 12.32 pounds from a 20 pound extinguisher, and returns to bed.

The mathematician in the third house looks at the fire, looks at the fire extinguisher, says "AHA, a solution exists," and goes back to bed.

believe that the International Astronomical Union decided that Pluto was no longer one of the planets, and was instead part of a brand new category called “dwarf planets.”

think that's what's known as 'hedging your bets' !

cheers,
