Covid-19, not Covid-1 presumably means that she thinks it is the 19th version of the virus and so we should know a lot about it.

Well I could be wrong, but I think the humour is in she was implying what was the WHO doing while Covid 1 to 18 were out and about, where as the the 19 designation comes from the year, that is 2019 that the virus was first detected.....I guess you had to be there.....

I searched and found the video clip of that episode of the show. It was a part of a larger topic about the fact that the WHO is funded by the US to the tune of nearly $840M/yr, while the sum of the Chinese, Italian, French plus another country's contributions to fund it total less than $84M/yr.

The Chinese apparently "own" the WHO, based on their undue influence on selection of personnel and false info or lack of info provided by the Chinese and the WHO at the start of the outbreak. Providing info to other nation members is it's sole job, so we're going to stop funding the worthless org, which I agree with.

Since she mentioned a Covid-1 and Covid-19, your interpretation of her remarks are certainly reasonable and probably in the majority, but it's not an absolute, and that's not the conclusion I came to. Since she's been discussing this disease in meetings for months, probably a lot more so than any of us, I think it's highly improbable that she's that ignorant, regardless of how many people want to think she is. Just because a possible majority thinks something doesn't make it the truth.

I took her remarks to mean that this isn't the first pandemic for the WHO to deal with, yet they failed miserably. She would have been better off saying, "This isn't their first rodeo" but who has the time to carefully select their words when speaking off the cuff like that?

At any rate, anyone who fixated on the -1 vs -19 thing and missed the point that the WHO should have had it's sh1t together by now but it failed miserably is letting their bias get in the way of their ability to comprehend the message.
