Well, I'll be! I thought they were some sort of missile with fins and all that modern stuff.

Yet not seen in 'my' Tasmania either in the original post or in the quoted section. Jim, you must be in a different Tasmania to the one I am in .

I guess Jim has an upmarket IP address or is it me whose has the 'top shelf' IP address that makes sure I am not bothered with whatever socaldmax posts .

The problem is, THAT joke came from a completely different website, hosted on a completely different server.

https://9gag.com/funny

So now I'm wondering how common this geo blocking is. Do a lot of URLs in the US do this?

Let's try an experiment. Those of you who can't see the image, try opening the URL above from a new tab and see if you can see the jokes at that URL directly.

It’s all about money and portability. Recoilless rifles (whether rifled or smooth ore) fire relatively cheap ammo and for a small version like the Gustav it’s possible to carry multiple rounds and even to vary the types of rounds. 2 men could carry the gun and 10-20 rounds.

Even man portable missiles are bulky, expensive and heavy. Two guys might be able to carry 4 between them. Depends on how much other stuff they need to carry.

The tradeoff is range and accuracy.

I’m in New England and can’t see that one. But can see the other!

But as I said before if I see it great. If I don’t, oh well.

I don’t have a lot of FOMO.
I know I’ve already missed a lot!

Those of you who couldn't see the image, please try to access the 9gag URL directly from post 13220.

I was too brief: for humans, mutton dressed as lamb rather than sold as lamb. Sorry for the confusion.

If it's not too much trouble, would you mind answering whether or not you can see the image or whether you can see the direct link?

Thanks!

We were taking about the M40 mounted in the Greek patrol boat, not the 84mm Carl Gustav .

I'd like to see the two men: 210 kg for the gun and around 160kg for 10 rounds?

Re: The New Joke Thread

Jim was posting about rifling of recoilless guns generally I believe and seemed surprised the rounds weren’t missiles.
