Weird. I'm now beginning to feel old. There are people younger than me involved!

I don't get this so much in my car club, where I'm one of the youngest (not yet 60).

The truant officer has been searching for me for years. Kinda ironic, given Iím training to become a teacher.

But mum says I have to do my homework now.

Yes its a joke thread, but maybe a thought towards a young impressionable sailor, who might be reading this.

We have enough coarse bigotted clowns already!
That wasn't a joke... simply a statement of fact.
The British Merchant Navy in the 1950s and 60's was manned very largely by people avoiding conscription/national service - if you went to sea you were exempt- and queers ( the word 'gay' had not been stolen at that time.... ).

Homosexuality had not been decriminalised in the UK and could still see you doing jail time but was widely tolerated at sea... especially in the catering departments. On the liners I served on once a trip they would have a big party in the Pig and Whistle... all the ship's drag queens would be out in all their finery....

Feel free to take offence ... I'm going to take the rest of the day off.....

Well, given the age of this thread, and the fact that you started it...

Rating is irrelevant, I have never, ever heard of a farm truck being ticketed for overweight or weighed for that matter. Iíd bet they donít have to meet the regs.
Itís illegal to transport more than 55 gl of fuel in a container for example, unless your a farm truck.

What did the short bed get you 200lbs? Do you think the shorter wheel base was safer pulling heavy? What about the single rear wheels, were they safer?
Yes, I felt nice and safe since I never towed that much weight.

Pretty lame, I would rate that -on the beaufort scale as this is a sailing forum, as a force 4.
