I had a pony as a little boy too, named him baby. My Mother would find me by finding him, I would just get off, didn’t need to tie him up, he followed me like a dog, and if I went in a house even for hours he would wait for me in the yard. Never went home without me.
He was a rescue, in bad shape when we saw him, bit had been in his mouth likely for months, had to leave it out for a month to let his mouth heal. He really fought my Father putting that bit back in his mouth too, but he soon learned we took it out.
We always had horses growing up, not sure why. We had one that almost no one could ride, but as a little boy he let me ride him, but no man was allowed to. His name was white socks.

After Andy was born my parents told me it was for my 16th BD. So the next 3 years I cowboy’d up, going to horse shows, parades, rodeo’s and trail riding. Then at 19 Vietnam was calling so off I had to go whether I liked it or not. I think it was the best 3 years of my life, with the horse. When he was a colt, he use to play tug-a-war with the Great Dane using a bicycle tire.
I recon that’s a nuff now.
