Hey, sounds like me. Hopefully the boat issue will be remedied soon. I have my eye on a 46' ketch and then the projects begin.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Hi Everyone...

I'm a little bummed out...
Found a guy that is ready to mail me the keys and title to a 27ft Coronado, FREE!
Which IS within my budget. Thought it wouldn't be a problem to either get to LA, and stay on the boat for a couple months (but couldn't afford the $400/mo slip fees if I did), and work out some way to get her up here to Noyo Harbor, where the slip fees are $150/mo and do-able on my current retirement income. Then I could live there for a few months working on the boat.

Contacted a 'delivery pilot' acquaintance that offered his help a while back on another task/plan that didn't go through. He quoted me $4/mi to sail it here, or $3000 to trailer it up here (to splash it and live on it in Clear Lake)... Both transport methods out of my budget :-(

I actually thought this might be the Universe putting me in a smaller boat to start with, but the Universe has not opened a door or provisioned a way to get it here, so who knows... I think the Universe may be confused, or taking an extended cruise around reality, or the Right Lady Skipper would have walked into my life by now.

Depressed, Discouraged, Disheartened
But that seems to be the norm' for at least the last 5 years.

Hope y'all are staying safe and healthy... Hate being confined.
But at least we don't have armed soldiers blocking the streets up here,
keeping people from going to get meals, groceries, etc, etc, etc...
This needs to end soon, people need to get back to work.
And get back to a normal life again.

Bruce

Wish you the best fortune with the 46ft ketch Capt..
I'm still holding out hope that an investor will show her face, and the 56ft CC Cutter I've been watching will become reality... A C27 is a little light, small, and thinly built for the passage I have in mind (and heart-n-soul).

Glad you got out of Italy before this virus came along...
Funny how life works sometimes, huh ?!
You didn't want to leave, and it sounds like had it been possible, you would have stayed, and who knows where you'd be at this point, or even (God forbid) 'gone'.

I don't believe in coincidence, but KNOW that synchronicity happens regularly.
Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't see it or like it at the time.
Later we look back and say, Oh Yeah.... THAT's why that happened...
At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I know about that "calling" you're hearing and feeling, same place here.
I'm Sad that you're not where your heart and soul are pulling you...
I'd sure rather be out on the Open Sea at this point, or anchored at some remote Atoll or Cove, away from all the stress and sickness...
Pulling my meals out of the Ocean, and just feeling relaxed and secure.
SCUBA Diving, Snorkeling, Kayaking, WindSurfing,
laying in the sand and Sun to my hearts content...

May your Winds be fair, and your Course safe,

Bruce

please forgive me and as JB asks, Which way to I steer ?

Thanks, Bruce.

Yes, on one hand it's good that I got out of Italy, but my friends there are suffering greatly and I'm too far away to offer any assistance other than words of comfort. One dear friend caught the virus but thankfully now is slowly on the road to recovery.

I'm not giving up on my dream of getting out on the water and exploring the world. It's just on hold for a while until the current chaos resolves itself.

I hope you're well and you'll also soon be able to fulfill your dreams.

Sorry to hear about your buds there having such a time.
Seems to me I heard, unless it's fake news, that there was some govt official in Italy that mandated citizens to go out of their way to shake hands and hug on Chinese visitors so they wouldn't feel discriminated against and the locals be deemed "politically incorrect" for putting extra space between them. Ooops.. Perhaps not the best PC decision... But many in govt seem to think they are the smartest, and the end-all to all society ills.

I pray all your friends fully recover, and are stronger than they were before...

I know about dreams being on hold... Truly I DO...
I've had my goals of getting stable again, after losing everything, getting back to work, finding a life partner, and moving toward the Open Sea, put on hold time after time after ... (you get the idea) for the last 5 years... Wah... ;-)
I doubt I need to express to you just how frustrating that can be.
Two steps forward - Three steps back... ARGHHHH !!!

Actually just last night I noticed some phlegm buildup but I seem to be coughing it up, and I hear a DRY cough is what one needs to be looking out for. No fever, and no shortness of breath, so I'm figuring it's my first (and usually only) taste of the flu now that THAT season is approaching. In the past IF it has hit me, it's only for a weekend, then over, have a pretty healthy immune system here, and if this IS CV19 I'll be stronger after whipping it...

If I don't ? Say something nice about me on the forum, ok ? lol
And remember me next time you cross the equator...

Poured rain, high winds here in Cal last night, and hear it starting up on the roof again right now. I'm staying in the trailer today, but only because I don't feel like dealing with the drive into town in the storm to get food. Actually feels nice and cozy, snuggled under the warm covers, just wish it wasn't 'alone'... As do we all - I'm sure...

Take care of yourself, improve your immune system (green tea is good),
'Balance of Nature' is helpful, and I hear 'Carnivora' is da-bomb for re-
modulating and boosting ones' immune system (haven't been able to
afford trying that (yet)), but don't let fear rule you...

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

we have a good set up here... isolated from most of mazatlan, which is awesome considering the numbers are not accurate due to no testing.
we have made arrangements for bubba and chico should i meet my demise from this issue, and my momma says i am not allowed to die of it as i am her daughter. i bakatchad her on that one.
now for the serious stuff-- there is reportedly no fresh half and half in mazatlan. what i could find is dated march 24 and is turning.. will be great on potatoes and in pancakes or biscuits but sucks in coffee. oh well.. this is serious.
everything else including tp and pt are easily found. no one hoards pasta here as itis unusual to be used in homes..rice is the issue but last time i shopped there was plenty, as well as beans and taters. seems m some meat markets are open as no one likes walmart over priced chinese produced yukmeat. i wonder what they do with their outdating items.... shudder........
stay safe and donot get sick.

Hi Zee,
I don’t see a link or your signature. Could it be because I’m viewing on a phone?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

I guess there’s an up-side to every down. Though I should have been cruising the Bahamas by now, enjoying anchorages and snorkeling while preparing to cross the Atlantic..... I’m still stuck on the hard at Riviera Beach in an, almost, ghost-yard. One thing is for sure, when I’m back in the water, the boat will be in better shape than the day she was commissioned.
Stay safe everyone!!
