Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Generally speaking, you must clear customs in Dan Diego before you leave port headed south. Which has nothing to do with clearing Mexican customs in Ensenada. We paid the biggest bribe we ever paid in Ensenada I do not like that Port one bit.

All of the above is why I suggested the Bahaha because they clear the way for you with officials and eliminate most hassles. Even if you don't want to race with them or party with them, I'd still sign up just for the Customs and paperwork assistance.

So here's another question for you, watermaker? do you have one? is it needed? is it a must have?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

watermaker--so far i have not needed one. yes filters intrinsically installed before the faucets used for consumed water are needed, but as water is generally available everywhere-- hell no i wouldnot driink it--but the garafones of purified water are also readily available.... for money--- so-- you can put that off until you know you need it. i may consider installing one, but the prices best reduce and maintenance become very much simplified before i do this big decision...for crossing oceans, yes. coastal hopping-- eh.

thats what I thought. I'm solo, water tank is 30gal, a couple of 5gal jugs gives me 40. I do need to install pre-faucet filter though. Good call, I think I'll get that simple job done this next week.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

btw-in mazatlan there is a filter store--may also await the install until it becomes less pricey, aka mazatlan....they carry all kinds of water filtration systems and filters and cartridges for replacements. usa sizing is different than here, also---

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

I'm trying to get some work done on the boat, I've pealed up the cabin sole , but I'm having a hard time getting the old floor adhesive off , I tried kleen strip and it got most of it off, but there is still a thin layer of sticky black goo, I've tried sanding but it just clogs the sandpaper , any suggestions?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

ooooohhhhhhhh awesome black sticky kneesles...

ye know, i made many crossings and entries into mexico from san diego in different boats~~never check out only check back in. even ensenada to lost angeles~~ check in san diego and no issues. wonder what was the issue for those being detained or fined.. i have had friends on both sides of this one-- random inspections with and without dogs merely for re entering from mexico. some are harrassed at sea.
but remember that part of the adventure is actually part of smugglers alley.

So.....last Wednesday, I along with all the other employees learned the parent company to us had sold half of our company. So, here's the impact (to me):
  1. My position has been eliminated.
  2. All positions in Memphis office have been eliminated.
  3. Memphis office is closing.
  4. I have a job until about early Summer 2017, then standard severance package.

Did my 7 year plan just turn into a 1.5 year plan?
