SS City of Cairo

Just came across this website
ss CITY OF CAIRO

Fascinating account of the sinking of the "City of Cairo" in 1942 whilst on passage in the South Atlantic, and the subsequent plight of the surviving crew and passengers who took to the lifeboats.

The parting words of the U Boat commander to those in the boats were

"Good night, and sorry for sinking you"
