Excellent posts by all. Very informed. The only thing I would disagree with is PC not being a danger to science. Unfortunately you could ask one of several noble winners who have had their distinction taken because they raised a possibly correct question that did not jive with pcness. Who knows if they were onto something because they were silenced. No thinking person is immune to PC and it's all powerfullness.

Re: Solutrean Hypothesis Redux - Europeans First to Visit North America

Newspeak and self-censorship; though genuine censorship is increasingly bold and blatant. Someday soon we'll see a return to what used to happen to dissent from the party line. Dosvidanya, Tovarich!

Too right Micah,

for a good example of a "thought crime" in this day and age, try espousing a pacifist or humanitarian philosophy. With so many problems in the world, it astounds me that some rant and rave against the tree huggers

Jen, you're absolutely correct. Perhaps one of the greatest maritime achievements in the History of Man--coming to the New World from Europe in skin boats that followed the continental ice shelf and establishing Europeans as the first explorers in North America has been buried and criticized in mainstream brainwashed academia since its first mention in the 90's since it debunks and disproves politically tainted and motivated archeolgocial dogma. As we speak, archeologists are dredging up to 100 miles off the coast of North America finding the presence lithic material and ancient mastsadon kills of Man in the scrapings from the bottom of the sea. Science from the Latin Scientia means knowledge. And, it is the pursuit of knowledge that has taken man from the dark recesses of the caves of Lascaux to the understanding of the physical world as we know it. The trickery of the Sophists of ancient Greece would pale in comparison to mainstream academics today.

Well, it is another theory. This theory could one day be proved wrong.

I don't like rebuttals that use computer generated voices. If people wont stand up and be identified then their rebuttals are not worth listening to, IMHO.
