Here is the issue for moderators on Cruisers forum.

We are boat oriented. We are about matters sailing related. This thread is about a tragic event happening in the USA and NOT related to boating. To this end, the thread is of human interest and so it was posted.

Due to the international boating community membership on the website, there will be many viewpoints expressed and strong opinions as to how America 'should' deal with the issues. Once this happens, it becomes a fight.

We as moderators of a boating forum, are not prepared to deal with an issue of such intensity and volatility especially when it does not involve boating. To this end, once this thread devolves into the pro and anti, we say thank you and close it down.

We remain collectively neutral on CF despite our own personal beliefs and wishes for how things should be in this world.

Our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the tragedy.
