Sea Yawl Later!! in Destin - Bahama Bound

We were in New Orleans for over a week. Finally got a weather window and got to Destin, Fla today. It is suppose to snow (that's right, snow) tomorrow....Crazy weather. We are at the new boardwalk where A.J.'s is. It is really nice. We will be here at least through tomorrow.

We are headed to Georgetown

We wanted to be there for March 1st for the annual Regatta but I don't see that happening. There is always next year! We were so happy to get to Florida - thinking out of the cold. Then last night the forecast predicted SNOW - in Florida - how crazy is that?

I apologize for hijacking thread, but did you come in Destin pass from the gulf? If so, any problems with the pass or entrance to the lagoon? They were recently dredged......

And yes, we've had a lot of cold weather along the Panhandle. Below freezing several times last month.

Sea Yawl -
Not sure which event you're talking about. "Regatta", a/k/a the National Family Islands Regatta, takes place in Georgetown every April. This years dates are 4/21-4/25.
The Cruisers Regatta takes place in March. This years dates are 3/1-3/13.

I'm just a couple of miles up from you in Shalimar. We've definitely had some strange weather this year and I'm looking forward to some summer temps soon!

Looks like you might be around for a couple of days with us, let me know if you need anything or a vehicle to get around in to run some errands, always happy to help out a cruiser!

Thanks everyone!

We did come in from the Gulf and we stopped at Destin Harbor and are staying at the Harborwalk in front of The Crazy Lobster. We didn't go past the bridge.
There was some shoaling on the west side of the cut.
As far as the offer for a vehicle- that is so nice but we are ok. It is very likely we will leave tomorrow for Clearwater, Fla. Rusty has a cousin there.

The Regatta I was referring to was the Cruisers Regatta. We didn't know about the other one. Thanks for the information. When we were in Houma we had a really nice guy stop by the boat and visit. Cruisers are the nicest people!!
