Russia's new FLOATING Nuclear Reactor

So after a Nuclear accident in Russia at a missile base they will not own up to. And there launch of a nuclear reactor built on a sea barge how long before everyone will need a Geiger counter on there boat ?

Funny thing, within 5 NM of mile zero of the ICW you can generally find at least 5 FLOATING nuclear reactors!! Often times more. Same thing around mile 689 and 720. Better go get that Geiger counter with the accompanying tin foil hat, stat

Around Norfolk & Hampton Roads, too, could find a few. Might only need the tin foil hat a bit closer to Murmansk though.

I did not know this! In consideration of the safety problems involved with containment and transport of radioactive materials, now we have the additional exposure to hurricane propagated wave activity, accelerated corrosion due to proximity of salt water, and the potential for ingestion of radioactively contaminated fish. It is reprehensible in consideration of the alternative for the benign generation of electricity from tide generators.

The explosion in Russia was probably during the test firing of a cruise missile engine. The unique thing is that missile engine is powered by a small, light nuclear reactor.
Very dirty, plus whatever the missile hits gets irradiated too.

There are a few of those floating nuclear reactors at Bangor WA also. We don't actually notice them much except for that ever present faint greenish glow above Port Townsend and the number of little furry humonculi sculling about Puget Sound :-)

But I s'pose those phenomena might just as easily be ascribed to the petroleum refinery at Cherry Point WA

I know they are used to power military submarines and have been for many years. Subs of course can escape from hurricanes quite easily. Also, I may have heard of a nuclear powered carrier, although not sure if that is a plan or a reality. But, I don't see how the military use of nuclear energy as a means of transport affects the potential danger for massive radiation release from a floating nuclear power reactor in a hurricane belt.

In the Juan de Fuca area in British Columbia, you can have submerged nuclear reactors under you without you know. Same with the Whisky Golf area off of the Nanoose area.
