RSYC (Royal Snob Yacht Club)
As I sit here tonight and observe all the super sailboats with initials on the transom noting they are members of a "Royal" yacht club somewhere, I thought I would start my own yacht club. First, it will guarantee that I will be the Commodore. And secondly, I have never found a yacht club I wanted to join that would accept me. And I would get rejected by the RSYC too. I want "RSYC" to be in black letters on my boat's transom.
I am in it just for the prestige and a cute burgee. I don't really want to associate with other snobs, just be one myself.
The people I am looking for members have to answer "yes" to at least one of these questions:
1. Do you speak with a British accent?
2. Have you been called a pompous ass in the past 12 months, or do you consider yourself to be one?
3. Can you explain the difference between beluga, sterlet, ossetra, and sevruga?
4. Are you descended from royalty (cadet line is okay) or have a title?
5. Do you always hire a crew to move your boat from one place to another and fly in to stay on the yacht while its in the marina?
However, anyone who wears a Tilley hat, does their own varnishing, or manages their own money would be disqualified.
Any other ideas for the qualifications?

I have a Tilley hat, but my butler is unable to polish the button snaps bright enough,,, so I don't wear it much, Im pretty sure he thinks I'm a pompous ass but I don't understand him very well due to his british accent
Am I still disqualified?

Us Aussies also have Royal .... I am a member of the Royal Motor Yacht Club, Port Hacking. Neither speak with Pommie accent nor have ever eaten caviar! However, I agree there are some very snotty people in some of these clubs.

I think you will find your yacht club in Pittwater not Port Hacking in case you ever want to go there.

There is no such thing as British Accent. We (oxford, not Cambridge (those dullards) speak the Queens own. The rest of you simply cannot pronounce the language correctly
2. Have you been called a pompous ass in the past 12 months, or do you consider yourself to be one?
I wouldn't know. There are those (few) of us who know how to behave correctly and then there are the rest of you
3. Can you explain the difference between beluga, sterlet, ossetra, and sevruga?
Hmmm- My chef takes care of this for me
4. Are you descended from royalty (cadet line is okay) or have a title?
The current Royals are a little known off-shoot of the true royal bloodlines - my ancestors
5. Do you always hire a crew to move your boat from one place to another and fly in to stay on the yacht while its in the marina?
How silly. I most certainly enjoy sailing the boat. Although I, of course, would never sail to weather(might spill my drink)
However, anyone who wears a Tilley hat, does their own varnishing, or manages their own money would be disqualified.
Any other ideas for the qualifications?
Those that qualify would know if they are qualified. If you don't know - then obviously you aren't. Naturally, those of us that are qualified wouldn't join - because the simple act of joining anything so peblian as a yacht club would be disqualifying in itself.
We are a people unto ourselves

Hope the above clarifies things a bit

There is another one in Pittwater it is a bit like an RSL club with a marina.
Not a very original name I guess, never knew there was one at Port Hacking as well.
I stand (fall) corrected.

Re: RSYC (Royal Snob Yacht Club)
There are actually four Royal Motor Yacht Clubs in New South Wales. One on Port Hacking, one on Sydney Harbour, one on Pittwater and one on Lake Macquarie. All have a common ancestor, the Sydney Harbour one.

Re: RSYC (Royal Snob Yacht Club)
I'm making the switch to a Yacht Club this year- the reason isn't snobbery.
It seems every marina owner around here is some kind of gangster.
The marina always seems to be a money laundering scheme for a coke dealer, or some underhanded tool for extorting boaters for mechanical repairs and storage. It seems many of the yard guys are in on it, either actively, or they've just become so disillusioned after years of employment by a gangster that they just don't care any more.
Its just a trial period but I'm going to try "royal" instead of "don" for a while.

Re: RSYC (Royal Snob Yacht Club)
Your own yacht club , great, not sure how you'll get the Queen to give you a charter , so you can use the term "royal " , perhaps you could base it in a town named royal or something
Now you need to design your ensigns and burgees and make an application to the first sea lord
Preferably you need to have your home base declared a formal port of registry too,

Not sure if HRH "The Queen" will charter the club. But I am sure you can find "A Queen" to do so.
