Offline Translation Dictionary Apps for French Spanish an Portuguese ?

I'm looking for the android phone version of translation dictionaries in French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and maybe Russian.

The crux? I won't download anything that datamines. Language app needs access to my contacts and camera? I think not. I'm happy to pay for the apps and keep my privacy.

Any recommendations caliente?

I would recomend a muli language phrase book or if you want something a bit fancy get a little pocket translator. Batteries on those things are quite good too.

Google Translate will work off line with many language packs to choose from.

Note: most translators for Android just use Google Translate services under the covers anyway...so dont think you are avoiding Google by downloading a different translator.

Under newer versions of Android you can set specific permissions for each app directly from settings. There are also apps for doing that of course for versions that dont directly support that. So, you can turn off any permission for an app that you want to (like access to contacts).

So you think a pay version is just buying my own "telescreen"?

I don't know what I'm so worried about anyway; I have no friends and my photos are just 3 gigs of naked selfies.

Google Translate is great. We download 2 or 3 languages that cover where we are and then remove the ones that won't be in use for a while as they eat up a good bit of storage on the device.

The camera translate is incredible. Snap a photo of a sign, menu, whatever as long as it can read the text, it rewrites it in English on the picture.

It's all but impossible not to be tracked and live a normal life. Either put on the tin-foil hat and check out of society or adjust the settings as best you can and move on with life.
