You have misrepresented what the consensus position is. It is NOT that CO2 has played SOME role. The consensus position is that humans ARE CAUSING global warming.

We analyze the evolution of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW) in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, examining 11 944 climate abstracts from 1991–2011 matching the topics 'global climate change' or 'global warming'. We find that 66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW, 32.6% endorsed AGW, 0.7% rejected AGW and 0.3% were uncertain about the cause of global warming. Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming. In a second phase of this study, we invited authors to rate their own papers. Compared to abstract ratings, a smaller percentage of self-rated papers expressed no position on AGW (35.5%). Among self-rated papers expressing a position on AGW, 97.2% endorsed the consensus. For both abstract ratings and authors' self-ratings, the percentage of endorsements among papers expressing a position on AGW marginally increased over time. Our analysis indicates that the number of papers rejecting the consensus on AGW is a vanishingly small proportion of the published research.

I do. Do you? Exactly as Jack has told you: Of the papers that take a position, 97% are congruent with the consensus. Of course that's not the same as polling every single climate scientist with a single yes/no question. Is that your claim?

But we must also consider the contrary opinions of the scientific bodies and institutions who express disagreement with the conclusions of this consensus and/or the IPCC. Oh wait, there aren't any. Zero.
You're late to the game, and apparently missed some key parts. The Cook study excludes papers that don't take a position. So how many climate scientists does this exclude? A poll of all climate scientists would be helpful, but it's hardly amenable to a yes/no question. That was the entire point of Spencer's testimony.

Scientific bodies & institutions have their own interests in mind when coming out with positions on scientific issues that don't necessarily represent the positions of all scientists in their employ. This argument is really a stretch.

Why are you trying to discuss something about which you are totally and profoundly ignorant.

Seems to be a perfect example of someone thrashing around for any possible reason to dismiss a majority conclusion. If there truly were a significant number of dissenting climate scientists, and/or a credible alternative hypothesis, don't you think we'd know about it by now?

This so-called “gold standard” is as close to a guarantee as you’ll get in scientific analysis.

BTW - my cut and paste is called evidence, a concept about you are clueless. You have never provided a single scintilla of evidence in your cynicism.
Your (most recent) cut & paste is called evidence of the science you prefer, and fails to address the skeptics. I'll ask again. How much support exists within the science that, but for AGW, we would be in a cooling cycle right now thanks to Milankovitch cycles? Presenting evidence is not a substitute for a basic aptitude for logic, reason, independent analysis, and intellectual civility.

Just 39 of those signatories have any expressed expertise in climate science.

I fail to address your cynicism. Period. Logic, reason and analysis require evidence.
