Well no not plastic and to be nit picky, by common usage neither are cigarette butts. They are paper and the filter is cellulose acetate.

So maybe retitle the thread most commonly found trash in oceans, but either way it's disgusting. I gave up using Styrofoam cups after my first cruise in 1971 when realized I was seeing them floating around every day and every where I sailed.

Your right... I corrected the title.

I don't know how true this is but it sounds right.

Re: Most commonly found trash in oceans

You could probably get a good idea just by looking at what is washed up on beaches.

Based on the "International Coastal Cleanup 2012" caption, I'd guess that that is what they did.

No mention of unmatched jandals? I wouldn't mind if they came ashore in pairs...

Well, if you looked around your marina or where you are hanging your hook I would have guessed by the number of drinkers that empty RUM bottles would have ranked higher......

Re: Most commonly found trash in oceans

I did some diving at St. Vincent some years ago in the cove supposedly where a scene for Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed, and the overwhelming thing I remember was every single square foot was covered in bottles and cans, place was a trash dump.
