If I had to choose between the 2, I'd go with Macgregor 25.

Tough call. Both are good boats.

The 25' Mac is bigger, light and quick (recently apparently entered into the "sailboat hall of fame or some such...) It can be singlehanded, and parts seem readily available. Light and fast when properly sailed, no frills. Does it have the pop top canvas? Motors (and especially ones capable of charging batteries or running lights) are expensive.

The 22' has an outboard, and they're not cheap. They both have trailers (condition?) and sounds like they may both have hull and rigging to be replaced. Check your agent for insurance costs. They are generally pretty cheap.
